Whilst travelling to visit our granddaughter on Saturday, and awaiting our somewhat delayed train at a very crowded Peterborough station, we were delighted to witness the passing through of 'Tornado' yorkshire pullman. The platform was packed with families, old and young, armed with cameras and videos to recorded this memorial occasion. As she passed thru memories came flooding back of my youth and very happy times spent with my brother train spotting these wonderful steam trains.
Imagine our delight when, once again, on our return journey at 'Newark station' we once again witnessed her passing thru a packed station on her return journey to Kings Cross.
We realise that these yesteryear steam trains were bad for the environment but their character and charm will never be replaced by todays modern trains !!
